STEP 5A) PLEASE NOTICE THAT WE HAVE TWO DIFFERENT SIZED HOLES DRILLED ON THE SHORT HOOD ROOF. THE # 61 HOLE IS FOR THE DW HORN AND THE # 67 HOLE IS FOR THE DW ANTENNA. ONE IMPORTANT MEASUREMENT WAS OMITTED FROM THIS SCAN AND THIS IS THE DISTANCE FROM THE RIVET LINE TO THE # 61 HOLE. THIS HOLE IS LOCATED 12" FROM THE RIVET LINE.
STEP 5B) THIS STEP SHOWS ALL THE DETAILS WE WILL ADD TO THE SHORT HOOD ROOF. DRILL # 80 HOLES FOR THE FOUR DA LIFT RINGS AND GLUE IN PLACE FROM INSIDE THE SHELL. GLUE THE SAND FILLER HATCH ( SUPPLIED WITH THE MODEL ), HORN, GRAB IRON AND ANTENNA IN PLACE.
YOU PROBABLY THINK THE BELL HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN, BUT TRUST ME, IT HASN'T. WE WILL ADD IT LATER TO LESSEN THE CHANCES OF IT BEING BROKEN WHILE WE WORK ON OTHER DETAILS.

QUESTION: ARE YOU TRIMMING OFF (SHORTENING) THE "STEM" OF THE EYE BOLTS AND GRABS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION TO AVOID INTERFERENCE WITH THE RUNNING GEAR AND CHASSIS? IT WOULD SEE THAT THIS WOULD BE NECESSARY AND IF SO, EASIER BEFORE INSTALLATION THAN AFTERWARDS DUE TO THE NARROW HOOD. WHAT DO YOU THINK? MIKE GARBER

ANSWER: I WAS GOING TO WAIT UNTIL A LATER STEP AND THEN CUT OFF ALL THE GRAB IRONS AND OTHER BRASS DETAILS THAT MIGHT BE TOO LONG AND INTERFERE WITH THE FITTING OF THE SHELL ON THE CHASSIS, BUT YOU CAN DO SO NOW IF YOU WANT TO. IF YOU CAN'T REACH THESE PARTS TO CUT THEM OFF FLUSH WITH THE INSIDE OF THE SHELL, YOU CAN JUST PUSH THEM OVER TO LAY FLAT OR YOU CAN SHORTEN THEM BEFORE YOU INSTALL THEM. THE LIFT RINGS SHOULDN'T PRESENT A PROBLEM WITH BEING TOO LONG.......JUST THE GRAB IRONS. BOB HARPE
