Connects with CLINCHFIELD. 10.6 miles of track.
The Yancey Railroad came into existence on April 1, 1955. The Clinchfield
had petitioned the State of North Carolina to abandon the 12 miles of track
from Burnsville to Kona, NC., known as the Black Mountain Railroad.
A new group of stockholders was formed and purchased this track, the
bridges and the depot in Burnsville.
